Hey everybody I'm a sound designer working freelance for companies and filmmakers and I'm considering making a Royalty free CD of recorded and created sound effects and ambiences for fellow filmmakers but I wanted to ask you all some questions of what you'd require from this kind of CD, if you'd find it useful.

1. How many sounds would you want on such a CD??

2. How much would you pay for such a CD, given the fact that you could use as many sounds as many time as you'd liked on any project?

3. What sounds, ambiences, etc would you want on such a CD, feel free to list groups, types, genres and individual sounds.

Hmmm .... how long is a piece of string?

Hmmm .... the fact that the license would be non-exclusive is not necessarily a big selling point for me.

3. What sounds, ambiences, etc would you want on such a CD, feel free to list groups, types, genres and individual sounds.
Hmmm .... no cheesey sythesized crap, only wholesome organic noises and atmos. I tend to find that most capable filmmakers can cover their own buzz/wildtrack but sometimes come unstuck for close-mic'd/well recorded spot effects:
convincing screams
gunshots
animal noises
vehicle noises
hydraulics
explosions
bodily functions

since the limit of human hearing is generally regarded to be less than 20KHz, a 44.1KHz audiocd should still be useful for most indie filmmakers on a budget ....

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The sounds i've had trouble recording in the past is rain, cars, door handles, thunder and footsteps on carpet.

Oh, and they must be at LEAST 48kHz
